Mechanical biological Treatment (MBT) is a pre treatment technology that contributes to the diversion of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) from landfill. The system involves in the separation of organic wastes from inorganic wastes which in turn accelerate the decay of organic waste and waste management in general.
MBT will enhance successful implementation of SWM disposal facility especially in utilization of existing old landfill by introducing special breed microorganism that works effectively in the aerobic and anaerobic condition. It is a proven technology and being used worldwide where the implementation has resulted in significant reduction of landfill waste, extended the predicted landfill ‘life’ by three (3) times and reduce leach ate contamination up to 90%.
